Swansat
Software Engineer · Product Engineering
December 2024 — Present
I'm the primary frontend engineer across Swansat's products, which span parametric insurance, agritech, geospatial analytics, assessments and risk analytics.
I own frontend architecture and product delivery, and regularly work beyond the frontend: APIs, performance, testing, releases and engineering automation.
BhoomiSure
Parametric insurance platform.
I wrote the original frontend codebase and have stayed its primary frontend engineer as the product expanded.
At its centre is a 7-step workflow for creating insurance programs, which I architected along with the nested validation it depends on. Around it I've worked on program configuration, geographic coverage, triggers, pricing, backtesting, policy configuration, drafts and editing, term sheet generation, claims, broker commissions, policy management, custom roles, multi-tenancy, admin systems, maps and bulk imports.
- Policy ingestion for 50k–100k row CSV/XLSX files, with virtualized review and imports in batches of 1,000 records.
- A centralized permission architecture for custom roles, replacing roughly 20 scattered role checks.
- Reduced median JavaScript payload by ~98 kB per route, across 110 of 135 routes.
- Helped grow the automated test suite from 110 to 1,213 tests.
- Contributed to the Go/PostgreSQL backend, including replacing roughly 800 database queries per 100-user page with a database-level SQL expression.
KhetPe
Agritech and farm intelligence platform.
I'm the primary frontend engineer. A lot of the work is GIS: an OpenLayers architecture with polygon drawing, field boundaries, raster and GeoTIFF visualization, geographic filters and KML/GeoJSON import.
Around the map sit weather, irrigation, soil moisture and soil testing, D3 visualizations, subscriptions with Cashfree payments, authentication, role permissions and English/Marathi localization.
- Refactored a ~1,000-line MapContainer down to ~260 lines by moving its responsibilities into managers and hooks.
- Built a reusable D3 visualization system covering 7 charts.
- Designed authentication from the native app into the web using a single-use token valid for 30 seconds.
- Connected the mobile → web → payment → mobile journey with Android App Links and iOS deep links.
MP Crop Atlas
Geospatial horticulture analytics.
I built the current dashboard from Figma. It moves from district to tehsil to village to individual fields across 1,996 villages, combining satellite imagery, crop information and land-record data.
I also built synchronized side-by-side maps, raster clipping, map labels and report generation — and brought a representative report down from 39 pages to 17.
Assessment Platform
Assessments, scoring and proctoring.
I built the majority of a Next.js/MongoDB assessment platform: question and test management, scoring, a Trait Matrix, session recovery and analytics.
Proctoring covers camera monitoring, tab and window switching detection, fullscreen violation detection and retake prevention, with CSV and PDF reports at the end.
AssureKit
Precipitation-risk and policy analytics platform.
I worked across a Next.js and PostgreSQL app built on OpenLayers: satellite maps, polygons, precipitation overlays and WMS/WFS layers, plus dashboards, filters and trigger visualization.
On the less visible side: authentication, caching, rate limiting and security.
Engineering Automation
Human-in-the-loop delivery workflows.
I designed a set of developer workflows — /fix, /resume, /abort and /daily-update — built on Jira, Claude, Git, GitHub and MCP.
Claude handles the reasoning-intensive work. Deterministic tooling handles anything execution-critical: Git, GitHub, validation and state. A human approves before anything changes, failed validation prevents a commit, and PRs are never merged automatically.
Insite Digital
Senior Frontend Developer
August 2021 — November 2024
I led frontend architecture and delivery across Insite's analytics products, mainly iCogz, a marketing intelligence platform.
I moved frontend development from static HTML to React, along with the architecture and reusable components that came with it. Day to day that meant API integrations, production delivery, task planning, code reviews, debugging and technical guidance, mentoring junior developers, and working closely with backend, analytics, business development and sales.
Election Analytics
Interactive election intelligence.
I built interactive election intelligence experiences with React, Mapbox and amCharts, combining ward-level geography with historical election data, voter information and sentiment datasets.
Independent
Frontend Developer
September 2019 — July 2021
I worked directly with clients on websites, dashboards, landing pages and custom applications, and owned each one end to end: requirements, estimation, implementation, revisions, deployment and handover.
Novus Ventures
Frontend Developer
August 2018 — August 2019
I built responsive frontend interfaces and helped move the company website from static pages to a dynamic Python/Django CMS.
